What do you do with old medication?

You may have been cleaning out your medicine cabinet (or more like in my case your parent's!) and discovered some tablets or creams that are nearly 10+ years out of date.

After the argument/discussion that these might still come in handy one day, it is best to avoid using expired medications or leaving unwanted medications around the house.

Less medication means less confusion about what the medication is for, accidentally doubling up on medication and less chance of little hands getting a hold of them.

Next comes the discussion about how best to throw the medications out. In the garbage or down the toilet?

Neither, bring them into your local pharmacy which should have a RUM (Return Unwanted Medications) bin to dispose of the medication for you.

It’s a free, confidential service.
